Taylor may be among the newest staff members at the chapter, assuming the role of Assistant Program Director in February 2019, but she’s far from a new face. Coach Taylor has been involved with First Tee longer than anyone on the staff! She started with The First Tee of Hartford in 2004 as a ten-year-old taking classes at Goodwin. “My first shot was amazing and that’s when I realized that golf is something I wanted to keep playing.”
Even though she is responsible for coaching participants at all levels and the chapter’s LPGA USGA Girls Golf Program she said that coaching was sort of a spontaneous thing that she quickly fell in love with once she decided to try it. “Not only to be that female face, so other girls can see that it’s not only a male sport but also to see that look when kids make that amazing shot, the same look I had when I fell in love with the sport.”
Taylor lives in East Hartford and is taking classes at Manchester Community College working toward a degree in Graphic Design & Media Arts. Her journey has come full circle – from participant to coach to staff member.
Our chapter is one of many in the First Tee network. First Tee is reaching young people in all 50 states and select international locations on golf courses, in elementary schools and through other youth-serving organizations.
